Dear friends of Mexico Ministries:

For more than 40 years we have helped wherever we saw the need, in all aspects of the lives of people in Mexico. We have helped our doctors and nurses to minister to the sick and needy. We have trained and appointed pastors to care for the Lord’s flock. We have built small churches and large churches as places of worship for them. We have built small homes for widows and larger homes for families. We have helped “the orphans and widows in their distress.” (James 1.27). Later in his epistle James, the brother of our Lord, wrote about the emptiness of having good words without good actions to back them up. “If a brother or

sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” (2.15,16) Unless our words are backed up by our lives they are what the old Bibles call “vain” - empty, meaningless, worthless.

Another verse that touches my heart is Romans 13.7: “Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.” When Paul wrote Timothy about caring for pastors, he said, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, ‘You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,’ and, ‘The laborer deserves his wages.’ (1 Timothy 5.17-19)

I’m writing all of this in order to introduce you to a worthy family. Luis Kanter and his wife Berenice have been a tremendous help to so many people. They have interpreted for American teachers in our Bible schools, interpreted for guest preachers and groups who come to help construct churches. Luis travels from his home in Tuxtepec throughout several Mexican states helping not only translate, but also build churches. I was with this precious couple in January when their son Matthew was born. Until now they have lived with Bernice’s parents (the pastor of our church in Tuxtepec) or in small rented houses. It is time to honor them. We bought property to construct a home, and thanks to the generosity and support of some of our dear partners, we are sending funds to begin construction. If any of you know Luis and Berenice and want to join with us in blessing those who bless others, your help will be greatly appreciated. My philosophy is that if God is with us, we will start and will not stop until the project is finished. We believe God is with us in this thing, and we invite you to be with us too!

God bless you all,

Larry
